  1. These Floors

From the recording In the Before Time

The reason you hear an extended and louder bass line at the end, of "These Floors" is that since my Tim (Timmy Cupps) had a serious health issue and, it's been hard for him to think about playing music again. Still, his friends, family, (including me) miss him an awful lot, so when I heard the cool bass line at the very end, I asked Chris (producer bossman) to raise the volume and then when Tim kept playing after we recorded this song, originally years ago (Chris and I updated it this last year). And that's the cool little actual bass "solo" at the very end. I wanted to honor all of Tim's contributions to my music, and I thought this was a pretty cool way to do it <3

Lyrics

"THESE FLOORS"(c)
words and music by J. Leigh Stone

(Verse)
I thought I knew you but was I wrong?
cause here I am again writing another stupid love song
God! I thought I was done

These prickly hours move so slow
but time moves faster than you know
turns out that your past sucks the life from you now

(chorus)
So the story goes… I'm taking off my boots
you're laughing at me now. I’m yelling at you
you go to lock the door, I miss you with my shoe.
Cause I don't want to walk these same floors anymore

(Verse)
You said: "I give up! you were right!"
but I couldn't cry any more tonight
So I pack my things and I head for the door
You say: "Hey girl! You better go unpack!
"Girl you're about to give me a heart attack!"
I don't want to leave, but I don't want to stay
same place anymore

(2nd Chorus)
So the story goes… I'm taking off my boots
you're laughing at me now. I’m yelling at you
I go to lock the door, you miss me with my shoe.
Cause I don't want to walk these same floors anymore

(Break)
Our friends say it’s all for show and tell
That we’d never leave we’re scared as hell
But is that the way to play it out?
I don’t know anymore. NO!

(Verse)
I thought I knew you but I was wrong
cause here I am again writing another stupid love song
God. I thought I was done

(repeat 1st) chorus)
No no no more…etc till Timmy Cupps bass 'solo"
